New to Greater?

At some point, all of us were new to “Greater”.  Some of the more frequently asked questions we hear from our newer members are:

What time does service begin on Sunday? Sunday worship services begin at 8:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m, at our East location. Right now due to Covid restrictions we are worshipping online. Visit our Facebook page to livestream our services.

What is baptism? Baptism is an ordinance of the Lord Jesus, for every believer where the believer is immersed in water in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, as a sign of his fellowship with the death and resurrection of Christ, of remission of sins, and of his giving himself up to God, to live and walk in newness of life. It is a prerequisite to church fellowship and to participation in the Lord’s Supper.

When is baptism? 4th Sundays of every month at 10:50 am.

What is Communion? Communion (also known as the Lord’s Supper) is an ordinance of Jesus Christ, to be administered with the elements of bread and wine, and to be observed by His churches until the second coming of Christ. It is designed to commemorate His death, to confirm the faith and other graces of Christians, and to be a pledge and renewal of their communion with Him, and of their church fellowship.

When is Holy Communion? The 4th Sunday of every month, during the 8:30 & 11:00 worship services.

When is Bible Study? We have 2 Bible Study sessions.

  • Tuesday Noon Teaching (TNT) is held every Tuesday at noon

  • Wednesday church-wide Bible Study is held every Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.

Both sessions are led by our Pastor, Dr. Reginald Thomas, Sr.

How can I contact the church? The Church’s telephone number is (410) 675 –9500.

How do I find out more about the Church’s ministries? One of the best ways to learn more about the Ministry is by participating in our New Member Classes (Life Development Institute) which are held once a month on the 1st Sunday at 2:00 p.m.  These classes are encouraged for all New Members.  They are designed to help acclimate you to the Greater Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church – what we believe, when we meet, our ministries, and our culture.

Are there specific requirements for participating in ministries? Several of our ministries – such as Men’s, Women’s, and Marriage – welcome your attendance at their monthly meetings. We encourage new members to complete New Member classes/Life Development Institute as they walk toward participating in a ministry.

Is it possible to speak with the Pastor? Yes, one of our core values is the belief every member is a part of our Greater family.  Although the size of our membership makes it difficult for Dr. Thomas to personally interact with each member on a regular basis.  If you should you have a specific need to meet with the Pastor, please call the Director of Administration, Sis. Avery Lawrence by calling the church’s office, 410-675-9500 ext 113, or via email at admin@greatergmbc.org.
